About

I received my Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, with emphasis in Slavic Studies and a minor in film, at New York University in 2022. After spending two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Harriman Institute at Columbia, I joined The George Washington University as an Assistant Professor of Russian. My current book project Beyond Nostalgia: Remediating the Soviet Body in Russian Culture under Putin (2000-2022) looks beyond the state monopoly on the Soviet past in search for alternative ways of processing the Soviet downfall in contemporary film, fashion, multimedia and performance art. My other teaching and research interests include gender theory, history of global feminisms, Soviet gender politics, aesthetics of melodrama, fashion studies, the 1990s, social media and cultural consumption.
